Create a New Presentation for a Business Process

Overview

WebsydianExpress offers an easy way to reuse the functionality of a business process in many different contexts.

An example could be a web shop, which has a grid showing all the information about all the items, which the customer currently has in his cart together with buttons giving the option to delete lines - or change the number of items ordered.

This business process can easily be reused as a simple little grid, which is always shown in the corner of the user's page - this grid might just show the names of the items, the customer has got in his shopping cart.

This section describes how to reuse the functionality from a business process without having to change the code or to regenerate and build the functions.

This also means that it in many situations will be an administrator instead of a developer, who makes these changes.

Create a new presentation

First select the business process you wish to reuse. This is done on the page found when pressing the menu item "Content loaders -> Business Processes".

Press "Presentations" for the business process you wish to reuse.

Press "Insert" on the page shown.

Enter the name of the new presentation and either a template override name (can only be used if the process consists of one page) or template suffix.

Create new templates

All templates used by the process referred by the presentation must be copied. If you have defined a template suffix you will have to create a number of new templates named wit the original name of the templates followed by the suffix.

Please be aware that this include error pages, child error pages, and other included pages.

Gather information for administrator

When handing over the newly created presentation to the administrator, the developer needs to provide an amount of vital data.

This information can be gathered as the presentation is being placed in the test environment (or even during development).

In some circumstances the developer will just create and test the basic process with the default presentation. The administrator can then create the necessary presentations by creating new templates based on the original.
