Getting an Overview - Enterprise Web Developer

To get an overview of the Websydian Web Developer product, you should:

• Read the Websydian Concept part of the documentation.  The Concept section is mandatory reading and it provides a good starting point of getting to know what Websydian is all about.
• Walk through the Tutorial.  This should be possible to do in a relatively short time, and the Tutorial will give you a first view of the opportunities that you get with Websydian.
• Take a glance at the Pattern Reference Guide of an overview of all available Websydian patterns.

At the same time, the Enterprise Web Developer provides the base patterns used by the other Enterprise Development.

Getting into the Details

If you are about to develop with Websydian, you might need to go more into the details behind the Websydian pattern libraries.  Having acquired the first overview, you could:

• Read the Implementation and Other Uses sections for each of the Websydian Main Patterns.  This documentation will prove valuable as you start implementing your own Websydian functions.
• Get familiar with the WebGridPage, WebInsertPage, and WebUpdatePage patterns of the Utility module.  These patterns will save you for a lot of work.
• Read about the Additional Modules (e.g. the Enterprise WebShop and Enterprise WAP modules) as you will need them for your development.
• Study the Server-Side Scripting and the Parallel Keep-Alive documentation if you plan to use any of these utilities.

The Other Websydian Enterprise Products

Websydian is not only web development as provided by the Enterprise Web Developer product.  Study the product documentation, if you are going to use any of the other Enterprise products:

• Wireless development is documented in the Websydian Enterprise WAP and I-Mode documentation
• Development of Websydian applications for Cleverpath Portal is documented in the Enterprise Cleverpath Portal Developer documentation

In order to understand and use the Wireless, WebShop, and Cleverpath Portal developer products, basic knowledge about Websydian Web Developer is required.

The Enterprise TransacXML Developer product on the other hand can be used without any knowledge about the Websydian Web Developer.

Background Reading

Included in the Websydian Documentation Set is a number of documents containing background information that you may find valuable.  These documents are:

• The Background sections in some of the main patterns and modules parts of the documentation.
• The documents in the Technical Paper section of the Websydian Documentation Set.
